Hall of Fame Speech Of Eutychus
A familiar adage goes, "A journey of a thousand miles is begun with one step." I began such a journey 100 days ago. Those of you who are new to this journey - to be free of nicotine's bondage - may only see the numbers on my odometer. Not so obvious are the countless steps, blisters, and tired muscles I experienced in getting this far. Early in the journey the path was often rocky, steep and mostly hidden by fog. Later the path became smoother and the wind was regularly at my back. But uphill or down, painful or joyful, difficult or easy, my face was set toward the prize of freedom from the chains that had once bound me 24/7.
The journey will never end, but I have a compass and a roadmap that others before me have provided. As long as I keep them and use them, I have assurance that I will not lose my way.
On hilltop 100, the air is invigorating and the view transcends mere human speech. It is available to everyone who wants it simply by taking one step at a time without veering to the left or the right, but remaining on No Tobacco Today Boulevard. Come join us who have made it here and beyond, you'll find the way well marked and outstretched hands offering help when you feel you can't make another step - we know about those spots because we have been there.
I'd like to offer the following encouragement that has helped me through some rough terrain on this journey:
No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. -1 Corinthians 10:13
